I received the Right Hand Alpha course today, and after trying four different DVD players, I fail to get audio. Anyone here have a similar problem ? The CD with practice tracks plays fine.

I have one of Jeffs DVDs,the B6 Universal. It will only play in my laptop dvd player. I purchaed it two or three years ago at the convention in St.Louis. I called Mrs. Newman when i couldn't get it to work and She promptly sent me a replacement. It also did not work. I didn't bother with it anymore until a few months ago i came across the dvd and tried it in my laptop and it worked ok. It still will not play in a dvd player. I also tried it in serveral players.

There is nothing wrong with the disc. Most likely it is a dvd-r and not compatible with your brand of dvd player (which is most likely an older one). Try another player. This is a common issue with older players , or ones that are incompatable with certain brands of dvdr. But bottom line is your player don't like that disc.

Brian, I build computers and know DVD's. All eight of my players are newer models and play + and - DVDs, also double density, etc. If the disc is not defective, it should have audio on one of them.

Hi Bill, sorry to hear of the trouble with the Jeffran
DVD. It could be a bad DVD, or even a bad batch of them. I got a course from jeffran with two CD's, and CD2 was a duplicate of CD1. Fran replaced it with a good CD2, so screwups happen. Anyway, if you want, I can send you the mp3 of the right-hand alpha course, and maybe, if all else fails, you could sync the mp3 to the video.

Phil, I would really appreciate that. My email is 7wjh7@msn.com. I'm dying to hear what Jeff is saying as he points to the picks, his fingers, makes an arc and practice picks. The mp3 would suffice til I get a good copy of the DVD from Fran. I sent her a couple of emails without response but I'll call her tomorrow during business hours. Thanks mucho for the help.

Your welcome Bill,

Before I shipped it over to you I watched (listened) to the whole thing again. Then I got on the steel and found, to my satisfaction, that I was able to play everything on there with little or no problem. I remember when I was learning from that Tape what a gut buster it was at first--now it's second nature and its opened up alot of territory for licks and such.

Down the road, if you want to follow up on that picking style, Jeff has a great book/CD called "The New Dirty Dozen". Its 12 licks in the "chicken pickin" style that'll draw heavily on and expand the skills you pick up in the right hand alpha course.

Good luck with it.

Got my second copy of Right Hand Alpha today and still no audio. After some exploring I discovered that the file format is VBO which is apparently a precursor to the old mp2 format. I have no idea what will play these files. Anyone have any success with this ?

There are several format converter software programs that will convert VBO to more common formats that will play on any DVD player. VSO Software has one called ConvertXtoDVD that works really well.
