Hey gang,
I am looking to invest in a pc program that has decent drums and bass sounds, I can put the rest on no problem.....I have read most of the items about the BIAB's here on the Forum and still not sure what to purchase...I like the way the BIAB works but worried that the program is so huge.....I just want something easy to use and doesnt take up a "whole" computer to run...any and all suggestions would be great....are there other programs that have good sounds, that I can buy

| BIAB doesn't take much space at all. The real drums take more because they're wav files, but still no big deal. |

Dale , you are asking the magic question and there is no easy answer.
My opinion would be to start with the stock version of BIAB and go from there. If you have a very good hi quality sound card you will get better sounds than the typical Realtek AC97 that comes with many PC's.
BIAB is a great place to start , easy to use and takes up minimal space. If you put a little time in you can learn how to edit some the stock programs and fix some of the hokey phrases.
think simple, start simple.

Thanks guys, yes the more I think about it the more I am inclined to go with the basic BIAB 2009, and the sounds are pretty good especially the Real Tracks,I downloaded the demo version and played around with it, seems easy enough to work with and the price isn't bad...I can get it for 136.00 Can. with all the taxes and shipping so I guess I'll give it a try and see.
I would prefer "live" musicians but with the "scene" the way it is these days, it seems to be the economical way to go, I guess.... 
Can't seem to find any players that want to work that cheap and besides, here today it is -20C with the wind and who wants to live in that...not me thats why I moving this summer...

Dale,
You can hear some samples of songs I did using BIAB drums and piano, on my website. I played the rest myself. I find their bass is okay for a practice track, but I prefer to play my own for a real recording. The basic BIAB with real drums is all I use. The other features allow you to make guitar, horns, etc.... but I've found them to be cheesey sounding. I've had a lot of compliments on the drums sounds on my CD's. |

Rick , great stuff on the web site....I have been thru your neck of the woods a lot and love the area....thanks for your info.....you say you use the basic BIAB with Real Drums...is this the 2009 version with the Real Drums that come with it or did you have to purchase an extra set of drums for the BIAB?

Keep in mind that by starting with BIAB as reference , you are not locked in. When you are up to it at a later time, you can save your BIAB project as a midi project, send it to another host program such as Cakewalk Sonar which has embedded VST programs,and then you can assign each of the instrument tracks that came over with the midi file there own VST plug-in.
Now you have opened the door to instrument samples and are unlimited in the selection, this includes Drums as well. Night and Day.
BIAB is just the start.

Ok thanks Rick....I will be purchasing the 2009 edition and the extra Real Drums as well and get busy forming the band!
