I thought I saw a Williams guitar in some Dallas pictures that had a 700 Series sticker. What's up with that? |

Presumably one from the first batch of the new 700 series. My new gitter is in this run.
It has some new refinements.
I'll post some pics after it's in my mitts...

Rick K. broke that happy news to me, too. (Right after I received my new 600 series Williams.) Oh well, I'm sure the 800 series would have been introduced right after I'd ordered a 700 series.
(Just in case you can't see through my sarcasm, I was only joking. I absolutely love my Williams 600 series) _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe.

Bill showed me the difference it was a small item but I forget what it was, I saw it and had to ask what it was, if you have a 600 you will not miss much .

I asked Bill about the difference. He pointed out that the keyhead is a closed one piece unit on the 700 as opposed to the open ended three piece on the 600. He did not mention any difference in the changer. |

I spoke to Bill and he said the keyhead was one piece which simply made it faster to assemble versus the older style two piece.
The other item was the hook on the pedal rods now faces towards the changer and not towards your stomach which makes it possible to space the cross shafts a little closer.
He said the changer was still the 600 style. |

It was better than the other thing I was going to use as a reference point. |

Hopefully they find time to update their website.
It's really outdated. _________________ ----------------------------------

Hey Dick Wood, Thanks for your detailed report, I really don't see how Bill can improve on the 600 changer, it is about as good as one can hope for but that's only my opinion. I don't know if its the guitar, the changer or the Trutone PUP but the tone and clearness of the harmonics on the Series 600 is truly amazing IMHO. Can you give us any idea about the level of interest people had in the Williams Steels? |

Brad, I was only there from noon until 5:00pm Saturday trying to see all I could. From what I saw,all rooms seemed to have a lot of people in them. |

I love the open-ended two piece head on my Willy 600. I can easily slip a small dusting wand under the strings. Also I can slip a 1/16" plywood protector piece through the open end whenever I have to change strings. That way I know I won't scratch the beautiful finish of my guitar during the process

I don't like the two-piece key head because I normally rest my bar between uses on the 5th & 6th strings behind the nut, and with the two-piece the bar can slide off the slope and fall! |

Different strokes for different folks I guess, which makes for a healthy and interesting world. I keep my bar in it's own "custom made" bar stand.

Larry Scott claims: The mojo is only in the blue 2008 600 series guitars." I would have to agree.
Dick, thanks for explaining the changes between the 600 and 700. I was afraid Bill Rudolph came up with another inventive idea for the steel after having purchaed my 600. steve t |

Larry & Rick, as to the MOJO question, it looks like its time for a Forum Poll in the sytle of "Emmons Push-Pulls are better sounding that all other steels in the universe". Just kidding, that is a great looking steel, Rick. I've seen too many Williams with different cosmetics that have the MOJO. steve t |

Larry, I forgot to tell him about our bev-Dejour, which as you know, was a single malt from the House of Glenrothin. I am confident, if Brint was privy to our tongue teaser, he would have been up front and accounted for.
So Larry, you ordered a new Willy 700 yet? |
