Here is a legendary Hawaiian, Sol K. Bright performing his famous composition "Hawaiian Cowboy."
This performance takes place in Winchester, Indiana in July, 1986 at the International Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival.
Sol was the special guest that year. He played some steel guitar but he was a little rusty in his playing because he had not played from awhile, but we WOWED everyone with is singing and playing ukulele.
You will enjoy this performance.

Just great stuff! What a showman. He was a fine steel player. I have a lot of his sides. He was one of the best Tricone players, no doubt.

At his prime, Sol Bright and his Hollywaiians were sensational. His steel playing was awesome. Even as I played with him at Winchester, as rusty as he was, I could still detect some of that great technic he had when he made those old recordings on both electric and acoustic steel. In the years later, (after Winchester), I enjoyed many private jam sessions with Sol at our hotel room in Waikiki. He was 'one-of-a-kind'!  |

You can believe George because he's played with every musician in Hawaii.
Jerry Byrd used to say, "If a junkyard was having an open house, you could be sure that George Lake would be there".
Sol Bright was a fine gentleman and a delight to visit with. |

Ha ! Actually I think he said, "If there was a jam session at the City Dump, George Lake would be there!"
Well, so be it. Those were great days, great music by some legendary performers who are no longer with us today. I had fun and have wonderful memories ! |

You can bet many a nice steel guitar, etc., is rotting in various Honolulu City dumps and elsewhere.
Pull all those out and it'd been a hell of a jam session if Keoki were there! |

In addition to the frypan, maybe that is an acoustic steel guitar in his right hand.
When Sol came to Winchester as the guest artist he also played in the "Garage." For those who are interested here is a video of the "Garage." Jam sessions at the "Garage" were often all night jam sessions. A more complete pan of the garage occurs at the end of the video. Part of what you do not see is the seating area for the listeners. Also, the garage door would be opened so others could hear on the outside. Some of the old timers will have many stories to share about their experience in the "Garage." You will recognize some of the people in the video.
