I have owned 2 PedalMaster's ( 1 double 10 and 1 UNI 12 ) and for my money they are simply great guitars. You can't find a better person/builder than my friend, Roy Thomas. My only regret is that I let the UNI 12 get away.

| Roy is something that is not found in maunfacturing today, and that he's a craftsman. I have seen some of his work and he makes the time to take the time to build it right. I am not making a dime for this unsolicited ad or endorsement. As previously stated in antoher post my wife calls his place; the "evil",because everytime I go to see him, he tries to sell me something,lol! Tommy |

Three years ago I decided to take up the pedal steel. I first bought a 3 pedal, 1 knee Sho-Bud at e-bay. Then I bought a new Carter Starter so I could graduate to 4 knee levers. One year ago I became good friends with Larry Edwards who has played the D-10 Pedalmaster for years. I couldn't believe the sounds I was hearing when I watched and heard him play. In June of last year I called Roy Thomas and found him to be just as friendly as professional as anyone I have ever dealt with. I told Roy I wanted a Black Mica SD-10. He sent me one of the finest sounding (and best looking) 3pedal, 5 knee steels that I could have ever hoped to obtain. What a pleasure to play.....ever thing is adjustable and it stays in tune perfectly. Roy has also called me a few times just to see how I am doing with the Pedalmaster (and my new instructor Larry Edwards). For my two cents worth, Roy is a great craftsman and his guitars are top of the line.

| I love mine! Also Roy sent me extra parts for free even though I bought the steel used from someone else. The only drawback might be the lower re-sale than the major names, but I have no plans of ever selling it! |

Uhh...which PedalMasters are you talking about, very old ones or newer ones? (A good evaluation requires this information.) There's an old one on ebay now, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for a beginner. Vintage pedal steels should be bought only by people who know exactly what they're buying. |

Thumbs up to Roy, like everyone says. He is a jewel to say the least. He, Lamar Colvin, Paul Redmond to name a few are ,as the younger generation would say,"the Biso fur Chiso".
Can't beat it with a stick and likewise on the craftmanship of the P-Master.

I've had mine going on 5 years now and no problems at all. Stays in tune, doesn't break strings and good on the eyes.

| Roy Thomas bought the Pedalmaster company from a man in Ark. many years ago. If it is a Roy Thomas Pedalmaster, it is mechanically perfect with great tone. I have been playing them for years. The service at Pedalmaster is the best ever. I played 136 one niters last year. Lots of loading and unloading with no problems. Stays in tune remarkably well. I highly recommend Pedalmaster. Jody. |

i agree with everyone pedalmasters are great guitars i have two of them double 10 and single 10 with padded neck both great guitars trouble free and if there was a problem i am shure roy would go out of his way to fix it. roy is one great person i am glad i meant him.

As I recall, Roy bought Pedalmaster from the late Jim Boen who called them Boen Pedalmaster guitars...or Boen guitars. Roy, correct me on this if I'm wrong. I met Jim Boen at Scotty's back in about 1984 or 1985...he had a booth right next to mine. I don't know just when Roy bought the company from Jim, but it must have been in the late 1980's. Roy made several changes on certain components in the guitars, so any guitars built prior to Roy's acquisition of the business would be different than the ones he's been producing all these years since.
Roy has been building steels forever...the man is a fresh fountain of new and innovative ideas and always has been. He has piloted airplanes, supervised drilling crews in their quest for oil off-shore, and has embarked on about the most interesting life that I believe anyone could experience. He's always willing to give people pointers based on his success...and failures. He is very unselfish when sharing his triumphs with others. I have never met another like him and most likely never will. His word is a cast-in-stone, iron-clad contract and always has been.
Roy has slowed down in the manufacture of steels in recent years primarily to help care for his wife, Edythe. She has had ongoing medical problems in recent years, and I would hope that all of us who know him/them would keep the entire Thomas family in our prayers constantly. They are truly precious people and deserving of the utmost respect from the steel guitar community for sure.
