I've been waiting to read comments on the Alumitone pickup loaded Carter guitars John Fabian was bringing to Dallas. Did you like, dislike, or what?

Rich,

I got to play one of the Carters with the Alumitone pickup and I was very impressed with it. String separation was excellent and it was very smooth from the nut and beyond the 12th fret.

John Fabian always sets up several guitars for people to try each with it's own amp. I was very pleased with sound of the guitar having to compete with other vendors and the ambient noise of the crowd in the veranda. It sounded great.

Regards,

I'll be ordering the retrofit kit for my D-10 as soon as John has them ready. Mark T summed it up really well.

I played on the alumitone Carter. I really liked that guitar all around. It would be fun to put it on the job and see if it can really bark. I sat down to a lot of steels at the show and they all played great. We've came a long way since I started in the early sixties.

Roger, stay with the Zum. I don't see how it could get much better than your set Sunday. I really liked the steel guitar song. It should be standard for every steel guitar show. How about ole Mark Abbot's singing?

Danny- Thanks for the kind words. I had a ball on my set and Mark is a real hoot. I gave him a hotel menu for a set list.

I too played the Carter with Alumitones in it. Very nice indeed. The Lace website says one main advantage is the lighter weight. My steel in the case may go from 71 LBS to 70.7 LBS. SWEET!

Roger,

I agree with Danny. Your PSG song was a hoot. I was just about on the floor. Except I had to explain all the jokes to my wife. Your set was great, BTW.
