I'm looking for an 8-string "DoBro" or similar resophonic.

Anybody know of one?

Thanks,

bUd

Bud,
The Mckenna is a great guitar at a great price. There are not any imports in an 8 string model. I think your only other cheaper option would be a traditional Dobro. If you found one, it would be close to this price with less than half the quality of a Mckenna. Just trying to help out.

There's currently an 8 string 1975 or so dobro on ebay http://tinyurl.com/crjjl8 It's an 8 string set up currently as a 7 string with the 8th tuner included somewhere. He calls the condition good but not great. The price is $1000. Frankly, as Todd has recommended, that makes the McKenna a slam dunk. The extra $200 for a 30 year newer dobro and one that would be in much better condition than the dobro's good condition would be a no-brainer.
