... on "Shoe's On The Other Foot" by Marty Robbins? Gotta love satellite radio despite all its drawbacks. |

It was Bill Johnson on that cut. Bill was Marty's regular steel player in the late 60's.
Interestingly, I used to own and play the '65 Emmons that Bill played that solo on. Bobby Flores is now the lucky owner of that guitar. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Bill also wrote the classic "A Wound Time Can't Erase." _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Watching the video, it looks like Bill has the day setup. Also, has anyone ever noticed that when Marty sings, he always looks like he's having difficulty swallowing something? |

Herb, Ken -
Thanks! What did ever happen to Bill? It's the first I've ever heard (or seen) of him. |

Frank - I've wondered the same thing. He's obviously a very talented PSG player, and . Herb's info about writing that famous Stonewall Jackson (and Loretta Lynn) song is also interesting. There are more YouTube vids featuring Bill, you just have to sort through them. They are from the Marty Robbins show in the 60's. Great stuff. should be more well known, for sure. _________________ Steeless. |
