Well, here's my first attempt at lap steel building. It's made of curly maple (from Home Depot, believe it or not)and some curly redwood from E-Bay. Fretboard is walnut I had laying around and frets are inlaid plastic that I use for binding. PU and tuners are el-cheapos from E-Bay. Nut is bone and bridge is stainless rod. Scale length is 24". I tuned it to C6th and it sounds pretty good except the 1st string is a little weak - maybe I'll raise that end of the pickup a little. These things are addictive - maybe an 8 string next and then........
