I realize that this epic themesong
features no steel guitar, but I
absolutely love it! It is probably
the greatest work-out song of all
time! Bill Conti is a genius that
is seldom recognized for his superb
contributions to the movie industry.

Seldom recognized by the rabble, possibly, but hardly unrecognized by the industry.

Perhaps you have a point, Barry.
My opinion is based on the fact
that Bill Conti is seldom seen
on stage receiving awards and
giving acceptance speeches.
I am sure that he wins, but
he is rarely shown on television
(heavy editing).

Upon reading your link to wikipedia,
I realized that I failed to mention
that he was also the genius behind the
fantastic score of "The Right Stuff".

Some of the best numbers I recall from
high school band were Bill Conti
compositions.

Aren't you forgetting "Let's Get Physical"? Laughing

Seriously, Conti's very good, but I really prefer Lalo Schifrin for his film and TV work. It's far more identifiable, and never soggy "pop-like" (as is Conti's "For Your Eyes Only"). Lalo's most known is probably the 5/4 "Mission Impossible" theme, but his work in the "Dirty Harry" and "Bullitt" films is also primo, IMHO.

But, back to the topic...BEST WORKOUT SONG?

I like "Maniac" (the Michael Sembello song from Flashdance), though I prefer the more edgy Firewind version.

You have quite the machismo
if you can admit that you
work-out to any song from
"Flashdance", Donny! Muttering

Shall I buy you a new cd? Laughing
