Just received a new CD for Akira Kobayashi and the Texas Shuffle Band, all the way from Japan. This CD is loaded with great steel playing of great country songs to a genuine shuffle beat remanicient of the Cherokee Cowboys of the 50's. All the players are Japanese. I really like this CD. Jody. |

I think Kobayashi-san played in someones road band at some point. He's a good picker for sure... |

I was fortunate to receive this CD from Akira when it was 1st released in 2005 (sorry, don't remember exactly when!). As mentioned above, it has great steel & is the sound that attracted me to steel guitar many years ago. Great vocals by Akira's wife, Atsuko, as well; she's on the right side of the CD cover photo with the rhythm guitar. Many of you may have heard them at Scotty's in 2000, where I first met them both. Jim, This is a new CD. Akira on the front cover behind a D10 Emmons. Good production and playing like the Cherokee Cowboy Tribute CD. Jody. |

Oops, sorry for the error Jody! I'm pleased that Akira has put out another of his fine examples of the "old" steel guitar selections that we have come to love so well. Thank you for the correction! Jim H. |

I also received one of Akira's newest CD's and agree with Jody, it's excellent. This one made it to my car radio to listen to as I drive to band jobs. |

Here is the cover to the CD that Jody referred to a few weeks ago that I mistook for Akira's older CD. His playing is very good & his Texas Shuffle Band really carries all the tunes very nicely! I especially enjoyed the fine fiddle playing in the title song by Akira's best friend, Sumihiko Hirachi, who passed away over a year ago due to lung cancer; a very nice tribute to a lost friend! All those who enjoy "shuffle songs," would really enjoy this fine production. See listing below of the songs Akira plays. The title song also features Akira's wife, Atsuko, on vocals. Jim H.
