In the mid 80's I bought an old desk, and amongst the tidbits inside was a little rose, made of fabric.
Years later I noticed Buddy Emmons had placed an identical little rose on the front apron of his "blade".
Is there some significance to these little fabric roses ?
Last weekend I was setting up my steel for a gig and noticed a small mark, dead center, on the front apron. I have no idea how it got there. When I thought about covering it with something, the first thing I thought of was this little rose; I still have it.

HI MICHAEL,
I don't believe Buddy Emmons allows even his closest friends to call him "BUD".
You may do so at your own risk.

I seem to remember Buddy writing about this either here, or on the ask Buddy section of buddyemmons.com
But I can't recall the story. |

Neil Flanz has a little rose also. I think it's more esoteric than the diamond horseshoe ring. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Decades ago, someone stuck a sparkling shamrock sticker on the front of my old guitar, and it's still there! |

Both Buddy and Phil Baugh had the little roses on their guitars. I'm assuming it was some charity/donation thing.
At the convention I gave Buddy the one on that was on the Blade. He used the table cloth in his booth to center it on the apron. The last time I saw the Blade it was still there...

WOW THIS isn't right all these guy's telling that BLACK is best, now here you go showing the REAL THING and its a rosewood color. That is so inconsistent with most threads on here. A lot of them still believe that ""THE BLADE""is black.. glad you posted a picture of the ""THE REAL THANG""
PS::ERNIE, what does the sticker on the keyhead end say can't make it out from ALA. _________________ TOMMY YOUNG

As far as I can remember the rose was handed out at the Wembley Country festival back in about 1980,Maybe something to do with Rose Morris.. I had one on my guitar for years . when I removed it , it left an imprint on the guitar that I could never remove, |

The red rose definitely sounds best. I put a yellow rose on the front apron of my Emmons guitar... black, no less... and the sound was drastically diminished. When I put the red rose back on, the guitar once again came alive.
Incidentally, wish me well in my new career as a used car salesman. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Something like Pembrook Pickin parlor.. I had one back in the day. Made you sound like Buddy even on a black guitar.

Bobby is right, it's a sticker from the Pembrook Pickin' Parlor.
BTW: The first rose Buddy had was on the first rosewood LeGrande. The one on the Blade was later. I think at the end of the convention in '83... _________________ My best,

Ah yes, the Pembroke Pickin' Parlor. What was that fellow's name? Bruce something? He used to come to our shows when we toured the New England area. Somewhre in the files I have a couple copies of that little magazine he produced back then. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

I was given a rose exactly like that to wear on my lapel when I was a pall bearer at my friend's funeral.
Thanx,

But Herb, "The Red Rose Of Texas" just doesn't sound right. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

I personally don't like anything added to my guitar fronts. Just the factory logos |

The rose is still on Buddy's old Legrand. Don't know what he used to attach it, but it's really stuck on there!

I got one of those little embroided
roses once for being a pallbearer
at a funeral, just peel the back off
and it sticks to anything.

Sometime in the early 80's I got hold of a sheet of these little roses and we all stuck 'em on the headstocks of our guitars and basses. Some of them are still there after all this time. I don't remember where they came from... |

Strangely enough one of those made it's way on my guitar also. I was hoping someone would have the answer to the original question.

I beleive that is an "Alberta Rose".
Seems to me I read that on one of Buddy's
Canadian tours someone from Alberta gave him
that or he asked that it be sent to him
and it was.

Austin,
You may try somewhere like "Hobby Lobby", or a similar craft type store that sells stick on letters, etc.

Ditto on the Hobby Lobby, or maybe Michael's craft store, Austin.
I showed this thread to my pal Phil from the ol' days, now playing over in England. He sent me a pic of his rose, 26 years residence on his P bass.
