I have always used the pedals to raise and lower the guitar -- just like a barber chair.

10 on mine no knees, C6, E9 on the back two necks and the front neck has no pedals, currently tuned to a B13. built in 61 with some evidence of modification since, pretty close to today's C6 and E9 but not exactly.

that if YOU had ordered one with 10 pedals, he'd have made it for YOU.

On the other hand, if you'd P#*@-~ Paul off, you might not have gotten an order sequence.

I had to talk like a used car/vacuum cleaner salesman to get him to make my 4-neck with 6-pedals.
He complained more than once that he'd have to go down and have 'special' end plates cast to do it. (At age 15, I had no idea what he was complaining about or what an END PLATE was!) Then he berated me on the fact it was going to be too heavy for a normal man to carry around (105#); not to mention, awkward to handle, getting into and out of a car trunk.

WHAT he failed to point out, is that when one is sitting up there behind that BIG Beautiful instrument, one can truly feel really impotent! And, it can hold a lot more written requests that the customers always come up and lay atop of it.

Paul popped into the Division Street Corral one night with local guitar player Bobby Gibson. I'd never seen Paul before so I knew not who he was. He was beaming from cheek to cheek. Once we'd been formally introduced, the first words out of his mouth was: "You sure have taken beautiful care of MY GUITAR". Tears were observed in his eyes, at that point. I feel that Paul had a strong spiritual bond with every instrument he ever made/sold.

Ray

Talk about strong bonds to a Bigsby -- you exemplify that statement.
