I'm having a New Desert Rose SD-10 Being built. Chuck told me that most of his steels he is now pulling the Vertical from B to an A. He talked like people really like this. I guess all you would have to do if it didn't work out is just tune it back to Bb. Sounded like a nice change to me. Gets two birds with one shot. If i like it i will change my other guitar to this. I'm hoping i can feel the B to Bb in the middle with a little practice. So i will have my standard ABC pedals and my E's on left knee left and right. Then my RKL raising 1 and 2 a whole step and the 6th lower to F# and then my RKR double lower on 2nd string and the 9th lower.
This seems to be a standard setup. I just want to make sure i dont miss anything before its built. I have 4th pedal on my Millennium lowering the 5th a whole tone. So if i change the B's to drop a whole tone i can sell my 4th pedal to David Wright or another Heavy hitter. (Just kidding) David. You are another great player. I'm trying to decide if i want or need another Knee while its being built and will i want a 4th pedal on this for something different. I'v been a little Lax or lazy or afraid of learning a lot of stuff with all the knees and pedals but i'm getting ready to go for it and get out of my rut. So please let me know what you think and what you would do different. I have spent so much time messing with tone, ETC that i forgot to learn advancement like i should. So things are changing. Your opinions are appreciated. We are all different and that is great. Thats why i'm asking for all opinions. I'm not a Heavy weight but i Love playing this thing, But L@@K out, LOL
Thanks alot, And i hope to see a bunch of you in Texas.

I'm dropping both the G#'s(3&6) with LKR, and I think that is one of the MOST complimentary changes that I have ever done. I've got RKL lowering my E's. With both knees engaged I get my V maj out of the open position. It is real sweet to go into the 7th(B pedal & E's lowered)then let off the B as your pulling the LKR(lowering 3&6) then resolving back into the I chord. I love it anyway. I have pretty much stopped using the A & F change descending as a result. I still use it(A & F) going up, just not down. It flows better. Plus it's cool for single note runs in combo with using the RKR(2nd string lower)Just be careful and stay in shape or you'll pull a growing muscle. And that's very embarrasing to get hurt playing steel guitar. Just my 1 3/4 cents worth. _________________ www.psgpicker@gmail.com (Sierra Crown D-10 keyless)2-Nashville 112's, Steelers Choice, Hilton VP, Digitech RP150, Bobro, GeorgeL's cables, BJS Bars and Picks. |
