Topic: Recording machine? |

I need a little advice; I am considering taking the Jernigan seminar in Dallas and I see that one needs to bring some type of recorder to the class. I know nothing of the technology available these days so I would like to hear what you guys would use in this situation. Is there anything decent available for under $100?

Here's a idea, get a camera that has video capability and get a couple of sets of rechargeable batteries and a couple of big sd cards. Camera's like the Canon power shot can record video to the card and audio. It's not as good as a field recorder or minidisc but it's not horrible and works.

I don't think you'll find anything great for under $100. I think the Zoom H2 (I think that's the lowest model) is a good choice, but it's $200 -$300 if I remember correctly. This is assuming you want good quality. If not, there are several good personal recorders (I just bought one at Frys for $60.00 to take to rehearsals - and other things like notes to myself). Has a couple hundred hours of recording time. But the quality is not great (although I haven't tried headphones or running the headphone out into an amp.). It records in Mp3 files and you can download files to your computer. Made by Sony, but several others are available ranging from $30 to $400. Check office supply stores like Office Depot or Staples.
Not sure if video cameras are allowed in that situation. |
