I'm currently playing a 1955 Fender Champion Lap Steel and like the tone quality however, I'm considering having a local luthier build me a new one.
He got a "buy" on P90 pick up's and that's what he puts in them unless the buyer want's something different. In today's market, what is the suggestion of those of you who have played a while?
I know opinions will vary but I'm looking for direction on say the top two or three available.
Thanks,

Nothing wrong with a P90. You might also look into the pickups that Jason Lollar winds. I tend to prefer single coil pickups, even though they are noisier than buckers. |
