If anyone is interested in buying a Double Twelve Dekley 9 & 9 Emmons setup, I can bring it to Dallas to show it to you. If it sells I'll make a donation to Bob for whatever it sells for. Jim Smith posted a picture of it somewhere on the forum, Jim if you see this can you post a picture on here for me.

It's a solid Birdseye Maple Coffee Sunburst color, this steel has a sound and tone to the bone. Plays great.
It has never been played out except at a gospel singing that we open for the Hinsons in Indiana in the 80's, has very little playing since 1982.

Hey Bill,
I've been looking at pictures of your beautiful Dekley for years. I even checked my computer, and there it was in my file of pedal steel pictures. It is 100% a winner. Too bad I don't think that I could lift it, or I'd probably be one of the guys sending you a bid. Was it once for sale at Side Street Steels?

Hi Duncan. no I've never had this for sale before, but I'm thinking about getting a new steel made special while in Dallas if I can get a good deal But that's hard to come by these days.
I posted it as having 9 & 9 it has 9 floors and 8 knees, 6 Knees for E9th and 4 knees for C6th, 4 floors for E9th, and 5 floors for C6th.
I tried to attach my tuning chart on here, but no luck, if you want to see the setup, send me an email and I'll attach it and send it to you.

Just to clarify, Larry Hilt and I designed the H&S (Hilt and Smith) Custom Signature model Dekley in the late 70's.
After I moved to Texas in 1980, and (I think) after Dekley went out of business in 83 or 84, Larry made a few guitars with some of the H&S parts plus some enhancements of his own. He called that guitar the Hilt. One of those is the guitar that Buddy Cage had, that got stolen.
I've only seen Larry's Hilt once when I went back for a visit. While they look the same to me, both he and Buddy swear that they are completely different guitars.

I got some bids but they are so low, I'll just keep my Dekley it's to nice of a Steel to give away, the tone of the Steel is just unbelieveable. I know it's heavy being a Solid Birdseye Maple wood body, but I think that's where a lot of the tone comes from. This steel shows no wear.
I just thought that if I sold this I would get me a New Steel, and I may anyway.
Just got to check several out before making up my mine. |

| Bill, as a suggestion, why not put more photos up of the Dekley and a price with which you would be most comfortable? I don't see how it can hurt your attempt to sell the guitar.Thanks, steve t |

Cage's axe was a different color, but did look very similar to this, just a bit more road use on it. It also had a LOT more than 9 knees.
