Topic: Attention Record collectors and Bargain Hunters |

For the past 8 years I've been searching for an album of Hank Locklin entitled "Country Hall of Fame" and even advertised a reward for the finder.. I was prepared to pay $75 for just a picture of both sides of the sleeve.
Well eventually a copy came up on E-Bay
So, the question is how come I was the first to find it when there was such a prize for its discovery ?
There are a few "Bloodhounds" with blocked noses methinks..Not only blocked but a little out of joint !!

I think whenever you have an obscure album you REALLY SHOULD search using "Google" for the album's details. A search for this one would have let you know that even the web site covering the Hank Locklin discography hadn't got a picture of the sleeve !!

So, I thank you again for the bargain of a lifetime, although I can't quite say that as I specialise in finding bargains.

I'd say you just didn't ask the right people, and you didn't know where to look! 
I just did a 30-second search and found 9 more copies for sale (if anyone is interested), all priced from $5-$20. |

Hello I dont recall reading the want post most likely I would had found it. I have 1000,s of records and never really look at the c/w ones, Ive gave box after box to the good will stores. dont get me wrong country music is my thing for playing and listening to but when it comes to the sale of records they hold low low value.

basilh, I'm sure most of us here on the forum wouldn't have hit you for the $75 if we had found it. We love you but there was no reason to give a 75 dallar effort on something that we would have no intention of collecting on. |

I know what you're saying Bo, and I appreciate the sentiment. My point was that, like the album in question, I just wonder how many collectors or even players actually look actively for bargains.
As an example I found a Fender 50th anniversary Tele on E-Bay 2 years ago for under £300 and A D-41 for less than £600. some of my guitar collection has been sourced at silly prices and whilst I've paid premium prices for some of them, the ones nearest to my heart are the "snips". |

Ohh, sorry Baz.  I didn't do the links, and didn't know you were only looking for the Top Spin label release. I did find that album by Locklin on these labels...

I used to have that album. When I moved to California my wife informed me that the cost of shipping all those hundreds of LPs across the Atlantic would be prohibitive, so I sold my entire collection.  For the last 30 years I've been gradually replacing everything I lost. I now have about 3000 LPs, but that ain't one of them... 
Basil, for what I got for my collection, if you had asked me in 1979 I would given you the album.  |
