I just installed the batteryless mod and bur brown chips in my profexII after I reinitialize on power up I can't seem to "wake up" processor. none of the Global or play or store buttons seem to work and the window just shows the Peavey Pro-Fex II preamp / FX (v 1.3) in the window. Am I doing something wrong or Did I jar something loose when I removed the battery and/or changed the chips?

Randy,
Did you save your profex settings prior to removing the battery and installing the batteryless mod?
I did this same procedure a couple of years ago to my profex II but saved my settings by computer to a CD before I disconnected the old battery.
After the mod was installed I reinstalled the settings back to the profex and everything has worked fine since doing so.
I was concerned that I might lose all the settings in the profex had I not saved them before the battery disconnect.
I am not stating that this is your problem,but it did work for me.
I would suggest you consult Mr Ken Fox, he most certainly will know. H. P. |

Ken and I have been exchanging emails and I think we found the problem... I just need stronger glasses or a magnifying lens to see if the chip's legs are seating properly My bi-focals just don't seem to work. LOL

A set of them visor type magnifiers is my salvation. I even put a swing-down 2x magnifier on both sides. "Optimates" I think they are called.
It probably wouldn't hurt to gently press on each socketed IC a little to make sure they are seated too. Temperature changes over time will work the chips right out of the sockets. Use antistatic precautions at all times. Stay away from carpets. I've killed my share of CMOS in my day. Again, take antistatic precautions |

| Ken Fox has a chip that does away with the leak prone battery in the Profex's. He installed one in one of my Profex's at the Dallas show a few years back. I later sent another one to his shop and had it done. He also has another chip mod for them. Ken does excellent work. You won't regret it. He'll probably respond to your post. |
