Has anyone figured out how to tell the year from the serial number?

They keep records, so why not just ask Carter?

I'm more the kind that wants a correct answer and not a bunch of posts estimating and guessing on the date as we often see here. Had you contacted Carter, you'd already know your answer.

I hadn't checked my mail box recently so your e-mail dated 2/12 was not yet forwarded to Ann. We are fairly busy these days so answers may not be "instantaneous".

Please use psgbuilder@steelguitar.com instead of the forum email for these types of inquiries with Carter being the first word in the subject line. Also, please double check the serial numbers. You sent an incorrect serial number which I had to correctly interpret.

The Carter steel guitar you inquired about was built in 1998 and it has BCT.
