I'll certainly be there. Probably a nice milling machine or two..

Last time I was there there weren't any guitars, just a COn tner and a case full f ernie ball bars and probably a bunch of tubes of "straight strings".

We'll see.

Yeah I know. I edited it appropriately.

Last time I was there was a month of so b4 they closed, when Tom was working on R Randolphs guitar, and there wasn't anything resembling a psg anywhere to be seen.

According to him when he announced that the last one was built and shipped the owner took his door keys.

So it goes.

If any of you wind up with any Sierra pull rods from the auction, email me. I need 2 or 3. royayres@earthlink.net

I can make them myself, but I would rather have the real thing.

See post in Main forum

All will be going as a package according to Dale G's report. Parts, CAD drawings, etc.

Ray, Did you put that ad in the Public Auction section of the Oregonian?

How mean!

Only 35,000 newspapers to go....

I'll still be there. I hear a couple Back East entities are interested.

Hope they make sure no blackberry starts get into any of the boxes.

They're HELL to get rid of..

Jim P.

You asked how long I would want the pull rods: I would need them a looooonnnng time, as I'm going to install them in my steel.

Seriously, I emailed you regarding rod lengths.

Thanks

Roy, one of the classic punch lines of all time!

I heard it as a (insert race/nationality here) construction worker, building a garage, and asking the guy at the lumber yard about 2x4's.

Right, Herb. I stole it from two "Rednecks" in a lumber yard, "Gufford" and "Bubba."

I could be mistaken but I believe Dave Borissoff, owner of Hipshot Music Products and a fine steel guitarist himself, is planning to buy the company and resurrect it.

I certainly hope this is true. Dave's products are of the highest quality and of he does take over Sierra, he will undoubtedly make the guitars even better.

BTW, Dave is the one who got me started playing back in '79 when he loaned me his Maverick after he moved up to a D-10.

Doug Jones and Myself are heading over and after coffee at Tinas on 122nd at 930.

I'll get some pics and if it is bought by someone that's planning to do parts etc, I'll give them the lists of wanted parts to give them a good start.

Hopefully whatever state they will be based out of will be more business friendly than this "tax trap".

Til Tomorrow

Can anyone tell me which Sierra thread had the picture of that old Wright Steel with Bobby Dixons name on the apron? I can't find it and I would like to send it to Bobby.

Gene I have a few more pictures of it close up etc that he might like.

I did a "web search" and wondered if he was indeed around, but I don't know him personally.

I can see the fortune teller years ago

( mystical music... incense...)

Fortune teller gazing into the crystal ball: "Mr Dixon, your steel guitar will one day be owned by a man wearing a skirt."

( as Bobby knocks over the table and runs out screaming.......)

That's the one that I had trouble not putting my hand up on, but I think it would have been topped.

I've got enough to do putting the other SB together and getting back to WORK this year.

Thanks Roy, you are a prince! A copy is on it's way to Bobby.

Eric, David Wright knows the history of that guitar...I believe he said Tom Morrell also owned it at one time.

Bobby Dixon lives in Paradise, Texas and is the current secretary of the Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest www.wsmss.com

Thanks again.... Gene
