Anyone else out there using the Steel Guitar Black Box with a Nashville 112? I have great luck with the blackbox on my 400, really warms it up and sweetens my carter (with a george L) .I'm hearing from the forum the 112 is a clean amp but to me it seems to have a "tubey" sound, not really very clean ,but a good tone.I have to run the master at 10 and the pre at 2 to get the cleanest 112 sound (with Hilton). I used the Black box with it for a few years but the 112 seems to sound cleaner and clearer without it. I think the Blackbox was designed for a more powerful amp which needs warming up. Its not the tube in the blackbox because it sounds clear in the 400.So is the low wattage 112 and Blackbox compatible or even necessary? The Blackbox is a great unit, though. Thanks! |

Intresting Mitch, I dont think Ive heard the 112 described as having a tubey sound, and I have not played one. However, I do play a Carter-Black Box- Hilton-NV400 set up and the Black Box does add a certain sparkle. |

???? The Nashville 112 is the most UN tubey digital sounding steel guitar amp that I've ever heard. Extremely clear. |

I've noticed the NV-112 has some sort of compression or something that cleans up my old Bosstone. I tried it in the pre and post patch but it doesn't have the same killer sound I was used to on my Sho-Bud S-15 or the Randall RSA-500. Still a great amp. I hope they don't change it. Some times new and improved is a step backwards.

Hi, Mitch,
Concerning your post about using the Black Box along with an NV112,I personally think the combo is great. I believe it adds a certain sparkle and definition to the tone, especially for the treble strings. I've also run a line from my Hilton to a Roland rack amplifier and get about the same results. The rig I use includes an Emmons LGIII and I've had no direct experience using the Box with any other steel. Hope this helps. |

I use a Hilton pedal, black box and a 112 on most gigs. To me the black box makes the Peavy sound 100% better. I also had Brad Sarno put a second output on the black box so I can have a Peterson strobe plugged in all the time but not in the signal path.
If you're in St. Louis, Brad usually has a set up where you can switch the black box on and off to hear it both ways. I think you'll be amazed. |
