I picked up a ukulele and am enjoying it. Any of you non pedal players recommend any CD's with ukulele & steel? Ukulele seems to be gaining popularity here in the Tampa Bay area.

Whenever I do any multiple~recording of steel-instrumentals at home, I always use my Baritone~Uke for Rhythm. It's more fun to play than regular Rhythm-Gtr. for me. In fact, so much fun that I no longer own a Rhythm-Gtr.! And actually, my Baritone~Uke at the present time is only a $59.95 ‘toy’! I hope to purchase a better model before too long!

There are a number of recordings on the HSGA website with Gerald Ross playing both uke and lap steel. He is well known in both LS and uke circles. Generally he plays a Dave Talsma tenor uke and a Rickie bakelite.

If I can help with info on ukes please PM me. I teach, organise uke clubs, concerts and festivals in the UK. I am also in touch with many uke players in the States and Europe.

Hey Len,

I play both uke and lap steel in my band, all my demo clips in my sig file feature both instruments and the Ulupalakua clip features a short uke solo.

In addition to all my lap steel DVD lesson, I also have a ukulele DVD lesson devoted to teaching beginners and intermediate players how to play and get to know a bunch of chords while learning "Blue Hawaii".

If you're interested, check it out

Here's the link

Thanks a bunch. If you have any questions, just let me know.
