... from the TSGA Jamboree website:
The untimely passing of Tom Brumley, a member of both the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame and the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, shocked us all. Tom loved the TSGA, his many friends in Texas and elsewhere, and the TSGA Jamboree. The organization, with input from and the blessings of Rolene Brumley and the family, are dedicating the Saturday 6:00pm to 7:10pm time slots as a tribute to this great steel guitarist.
From 6:00pm to 6:30 will be a performance by the cast of “San Antonio Rose,” the stage production from the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio that Tom was so heavily involved in. It’s an excellent show with great musicians and vocalists.
At 6:40, 4 steel guitarists who were friends and colleagues of Tom will join onstage for a half-hour personal tribute to Tom Brumley by honoring him with their renditions of famous songs that Tom made winning contributions to in his career.
Thanks to the folks from the San Antonio Rose production and the Drury Hotels for their assistance and contributions to our program. This will be a not-to-be-missed hour dedicated to one of the most influential steel guitarists of our time.
As of this hour, 7:30pm February 6, the four steel guitarists performing for the tribute have not yet been finalized. More information will be forthcoming later, after plans have been finalized. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |
