No man is a failure when he has friends. The NEOSGA is sure blest with a bunch of them.We had our last Saturday-Nite Jamboree for this year at the Arkansas Bapist Assembly in Siloam Springs Arkansas this past Saturday night.Everyone on the play list showed up and believe me,that is always a relief. We send MANY THANKS to Donley Harrington for bringing his sound system, setting it up,being the Emcee, singing and cleaning up afterwards. What a friend.I hate to mention it Donley but I need some leaves racked up at my house.Just kiddin!!!!We have another Jamboree scheduled for February 7th,2004.The NEOSGA also wants to thank Mac Bellingrath for driving five hours from Pine Bluff to play rhythm on the sets.Danny Graham & Randy McKee on lead guitar,Larry King & Norma Jean Lucas on bass guitar,Dwain Carger on the drums. They were a blessing to have and a "thank you" and a little praise on this forum is about all they will get for their efforts and talent. Our steel players are to be commended.Ray Qualls,Randy McKee,Larry Garrett,Virgil Pittman,Bobby Garrett,Jerry Knapper,Mike Spaeth,Vance Monday,Jerry Roller,Jerry Newberry,Austin Stewart and your truly. Thanks Guys!!!.We were impressed with Mike Spaeth. His talent is impressive and we are looking forward to hearing a LOT MORE from him.I must apologize to Jerry Roller.I use him to open the show so I can get the folks to come early and I hate to but,I hold Jerry Newberry and his grandson Austin Stewart for the last set so folks will stay.Sorry Guys!!!.I got a couple calls last week wanting to know "what time is that little boy playing".That little rascal has ice water in his veins.NOTHING seems to bothers him, except he doesn't like to be called the S--w M-----r,so I won't do that again.I did get a hug from him anyway. He will go far with the steel guitar and it won't be long either. Thanks to my wife Delores & my life-long friend Steve Hill for jumping in and helping at the concession stand. And to Connie Harrington for baking cookies for the musicians.Connie,if you would deliver those cookies yourself,it sure would make the place look a lot better!!!!.
I hope I haven't miss anyone or anything. We are looking forward to February 7th 2004 and hope everyone has a "Blessed Holiday Season"

Roger, thanks for letting me be a part of a very nice steel jam. I appreciate you letting me be on early and leaving to make it to my Opry show in Westfork. The back up band was so great and each one of them is an outstanding musician and right in the groove which made me very comfortable playing with them. I appreciated each one of them so much as they are a pleasure to play with. You are doing a superb job with the NEOSGA!
Put me down to play any time you have a spot for me in the future.
Thanks,
Jerry |

COOKIES! WHAT COOKIES?? Nobody told me about cookies when I was there. I bet the two Jerry's had them all to themselves! Just kidding, Roger thank you for a wonderful evening and sorry that we couldn't stay until the end. Work duties called for Elizabeth and we couldn't stay. We still had a good time while we were there. Thanks to Danny, Larry, Mac and Dwain for helping me with my set. Again, everyone was great and you guys are doing a superb job.

I also enjoyed all the pickers. I enjoyed my first chance to hear Mike pick as well. I regret that I didn't get the opportunity to visit with him. Picking with Mac was a treat. I would play my guitar backwards if I could make it sound like that! I always enjoy getting the opportunity to pick with the band. Thanks to Donna N. for singing on my set. An all around great evening for me.
