Tomorrow, Tuesday, is designated as Veterans Day. I wish to salute and thank all the Veterans and also those who are now serving in the Armed Services of The United States of America. Thanks to all for protecting our freedom. I want you to know that I at ever opportunity perform a medley of patriotic songs and songs of the 4 branches of our military on stages of steel shows and other shows I play. I am proud and so thankful to be an American. A big thanks to all of you.
Jerry

Beautiful post Jerry. I too am grateful for the service of the veterans in all branches of the military (including Coast Guard and reservists). And thanks to those family members who have lost loved ones or have their child/parent/spouse/sibling placed in harms way in a foreign land..they too serve their country. Thank you all.

Guys my age sorta slipped through the cracks of the draft, so in Sept 1968, in Hagerstown Md,when Jimmie Snow walked in our hotel room and asked " do you guys want to go to Vietnam ", we said no. He began to tell us how great it was, he and his then wife Carol Lee (Carol Lee Singers), having been over there in '66 with his Dad, Hank. The following Monday we were at the Pentagon meeting Colonel Roland Sharpe who books the USO tours, and in Jan 1969 we left Travis AFB heading for 'Nam......43 days, all over heck and tarnation..Thailand, saw the bridge on the River Kwai, etc.Cutting to the chase, I gained an immediate respect for our military men and the service they render to us AND the world. One thing that stands out in my memory was the professionalism, particularly of the officers....that may sound strange but these men were consumate pro's. I saw young men, scared spitless, who would ask, "why are we here", yet they served their country and did their patriotic duty...SO, I appreciate our Vet's every day and on this, their day, we give pause to say so...a click of the heels and a salute of respect and gratitude to all of you.

I have never served in our military but have family members that have. My dad is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. I have brothers who served in the Army, Marines and the Navy. I pay honor to all of our men and women past and present. Their service to this country has made this the greatest nation to live in.

I'll second that. What we owe to these veterans can never be repaid.

I wasn't quite 21 when I was drafted for WWII. from 1942-1945.
I was glad to get back and re-charge my musical career.........al

Yes indeed. No way to ever repay the debt we owe to our Vets.

We don't have the day off but we have a "meeting" scheduled to honor Veterans. I've got the stars and stripes on for the occasion.

I never served in the military and the draft was gone before my time. However, my dad was drafted in WWII, lost his right arm and gained a Purple Heart.

A special thanks today to all you steel picking Veterans.

I remember a USO show in 66' with Roy Accuf (sp?). That memeory is still strong. I doubt those of you who came over to do those shows have any idea how much that "touch of home" meant to us.

I just heard my sons reserve unit (367th Engineers)is on alert. I'm very proud of him and all men and woman of the military. God Bless them!

Larry, I want to thank you all!! I'm Proud to have served in the USAF for 22 years...all over the world. I WAS on The Plane that took Hank and his gang to Vietnam!Although I appreciate what Hank did (and HE was one of my ALL TIME Favorits)..I kind of lost respect for him ...as a person...when we were leaving Japan on our way to Okinawa (ater a Refuling and Passanger drop/pickup Stop). A few GI"s on R&R were on their way BACK to "Nam"..and got into the seats that Hank & the band had been occupying.. The GI"s were feeling NO PAIN.....but Hank realy caused a sceene over it! and demanded very harshley that they move..! It could have been handeled more Diplomaticly!!..But that was a log time.and 10,000 Miles ago. We must now support and honor All of the members of the armed forces..wherever they are serving..and honor those ..and the memories of those who have served..since the inseption of our great country!!..God Bless America..an also God Bless Bob and His Outstanding forum.

I did my Army tour a long time ago. This day is for the veterans (and thanks to all fellow service folks).

Armed Services day is for those currently serving, and they will be veterans someday, but I'd still like to thank those serving right
now. Under some very trying circumstances they are doing well and I salute them. God bless our standing Armed Forces.

To the veterans who have changed the course of history to allow us the freedom to what we do, I thank you. Your dedication and sacrifice are greatly appreciated.
