A sad day for all of us. We did our best, we prayed,
now we have to accept God's will and let him go and
wish peace to Tom's family. We are thankful for the many great recordings and videos to remember him by.
One of the best there ever was.
Thanks Boo and the rest who kept the vigil and let us know the news. _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

Dear Rolene & family,
You have been, and will remain in our prayers. I have asked the Lord to comfort, strengthen, and guide you now and in the days to come. We hurt and grieve with you, but also realize that death has given way to victory for Tom. There is a reunion day in our future! We will keep you in our prayers. Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time.
In Jesus' Service,
Rev. David L. Young _________________ Hello to all my steel guitar playing friends. You are in my prayers as you travel to all the shows. I'll see you when I can. Rev. David L. What a sad day for us all. The song "Together Again" puts on a whole new meaning. Tom is with Buck and several other Buckaroos now. He will be sadly missed! Here is the wording that is on his Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame plaque. I have many things to be thankful for and being inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame the same year with Tom will always be in my memory. My condolences to Relene and the kids. Scotty
TOM BRUMLEY---WITH HIS IMPACT ON "TOGETHER AGAIN" TOM'S "PURE" STEEL SOUND INFLUENCED ALL STYLES FROM THE '60'S FORWARD. TOURING, COMPOSING AND RECORDING. HE GAVE THE BUCKAROOS AND STONE CANYON BANDS AN IDENTITY WITH HIS ZB. HE BUILT ZB STEELS FOR A TIME BUT CONTINUED PERFORMING. TOM BROADLY INFLUENCED COUNTRY AND ROCK PLAYERS AND CREATED A 30-YEAR LEGACY OF "THE BRUMLEY TOUCH."

Scotty: Many years ago, you called me saying you had something you wanted me to hear. Some steel music I couldn't identify.
I asked; "Who is that ??"
You replied; "That's your old friend, Tom !!"
Just another facet of a musical career none of us will ever forget.
Sad Regards, Paul |

I am just heart broken to hear this news.
Tom was a man held in high esteem by everyone who knew him personally and all who followed his accomplished musical career.
It was a joy to witness the loving partnership he and Rolene shared and the loving family they parented.
Their friendship was always generous and uplifting.
Rolene, may God bless and keep you and the family through this painful time.
With love,

Oh, man. I've been holding this in, hoping and praying it would not happen. Yet another sad day in the steel guitar world.
Quite probably the first pedal steel player I ever heard, and his magnificent tonality still reverberates in my soul. He could nail you with one note, and he always had plenty more, and always in the right spots. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP. |

so very sorry to learn of this, Tom is an Icon. I am so grateful that I had a chance to see him perform at St Louis and to spend a few minutes talking with him. There is no doubt in my mind that either personally or musically, we have no way of measuring the length of Tom's reach. You knew when speaking with him that he was really a very special person.
RIP Tom.

The "Together Again" solo was one of the reasons I started Steel.
I only met Tom once, a few years back at the Dallas Show. He treated me like an old friend.
RIP, Mr. B. |

This is really sad news indeed. I recently wrote a song for my late Uncle, but some of the words are very relavent, and they are:
"HIS SPIRIT RIDES WITH ME, STEADFAST AND STRONG,
CASTING A SHADOW AS WIDE AS IT'S LONG;
WHEN THE TRAIL GETS ROUGH, AND I'M NEEDING A FRIEND,
HIS GENTLE REMINDER COMES CLEAR ON THE WIND..."
Tom was the main influence on my deciding many years ago to try to learn how to play the pedal steel guitar, like many other folks on this Forum. As another Forumite said in an earlier post, now Tom's up there, with Buck, Don, and Doyle, probably playing in a Heavenly band. May they all rest in peace. To the Brumley Family, my prayers are with you in this time of loss. I think I can safely say this on behalf of all the steelers here in Australia, we will miss you Tom.

Condolences to the family. Although we were hoping for a miracle, it didn't happen.
The first time I personally met Tom was in the hotel checkout line one Sunday morning in St Louis. He had to get back to Branson for a show that day and I let him go ahead of me. After that, every time I saw Tom he remembered that and thanked me for it.
We all owe Tom for one of the most famous classic steel guitar breaks. |

Back in my teenage years there was not a lot of country music on central Iowa radio.
But, I remember hearing "Together Again" and would crank up the radio as loud as it would go to here Tom's Steel Guitar solo.
I've loved the Steel ever since.
Thank you Tom for introducing me to the sounds of the Steel Guitar. And the pleasure of working a few Steel guitar shows with you.
You have always been one of my musical heros.
May the good Lord bless your soul. And may you rest in peace.
You will be missed.
Paul
God Bless Tom's family and see them through these hard times.
