Fellow Forumites, I have some very good news from way down under. It seems that our very own Michel Rose has done something that no steel guitarist has ever done down here, and that is he has been selected as Instrumentalist of the Year by the Country Music Association of Australia!!!!! I am so proud of him, as we all should be. There are quite a few outstanding instrumentalists here in Australia, but Michel has worked his way to the very top of the list. Obviously, the CMAA feels the same way, so WELL DONE, MICHEL!!!! You definitely deserve it, Mate!! Congratulations!! |

Thanks Mike for the heads up; a special congrats to you Michel for this award. Those of us who know you and your music are not surprised at your being honoured in this way. Others who have been unaware of your musicianship can now learn what a wonderful musician you are. A hearty congratulations.

I echo the plaudits from Mike and Stuart, this is a major achievement. Sadly, the Australian media being what it is, it will probably receive nowhere near the publicity it deserves. However, for Australian steelers, this is a very significant award.
Well done Michel! _________________ The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being. |

Ha Michel,
congratulations on being named Musician of the year from the Country Music Ass of Australia,
I am sure many folks would remember Michel at St Louis a few years back.
Excellent choice to a great musio and good buddy.

Thank you so much everyone , It was a complete
surprise , i was on stage at the time working
with the Award Band , and i remember thinking
at the time when Jim Haynes was announcing the
award , gee it sounds a bit like he is talking
about me and then i got really nervous about making
a speech . But i got through it OK .
thank you again everyone
Michel. |
