A trade name is a business name. It's what you could do business under instead of your own name. It's called a DBA. (Doing Business AS).
I have one here in California. It's called Willowgate Music. It is registered locally and not Federally. It must be published in the paper for it to be legal. I have had it for ~15 years and as far as I know lasts forever. Sometimes it has to be re-published, but so far I haven't had to do that.
It is registered in Simi Valley and I have to pay a business tax to the city for having it. _________________ heavily medicated for your safety |

If I remember correctly from what my lawyer told me,, you can do business as a trade name, but if its not trademarked and someone else trademarks it, then you lose that right, even if you have been the first one.
Ken is right, a trade name is a DBA. But I am not a lawyer, so _________________ We live to play another day. |
