key of Bb you will have to listen to the song there is two places you will have to wiggle your bar good on one spot and the other one is sliding your bar from 4th to 3rd fret in time with the music,

9_____________ I dont have the last part worked out yet but will add it when I do. he is at the 18th fret and not the 13th Im thinking because he is twining with the guitar and the guitar gets the 13 fret area tone and the steel has to be at the 18th, open to some help here _________________ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvuH7H8BajODaL_wy3_HSJQ |

If you're talking about the last part of the lead where he does the fast licks, I found those licks at the 13th fret (A & B pedal position) and not the 18th.
The first part of the lead I found all at the 6th fret except where he does the bar slides from fret 6 to 5 to 6 etc...
No guarantee that it is identical to the way the steeler (I believe it was Sonny Garrish as he often double tracked his steel, as evident in the ending lick of the lead part) played the part. |

Thanks for the video. Never saw it before. But, you're right. I need to sit with the video and see if I can figure out how he got those licks. |

yeah pretty cool I think what he is doing ( just taking a guess here is if say I was to play 13th fret string the 4th string on the 18th fret lowered is the same as the 3rd string 13th fret b pedal released. and the 5th string on the 18th fret pedal in then released is the same as the 1st string & 4th string and so on. if you find it please post it. It sounds exactly like the lick as I play it at the 13th fret. If I ever figure it out, I'll post both tabs.
If Tiny Olsen is around, maybe he could enlighten us. Was that Tiny in the Video?
EDIT: I may be thinking of Corky Owens and not Tiny. I really don't know either by sight.

I do the song in A (and I'm the singer on that one) so I play everything at frets 5 and 12. No harmony/twin at the end of the break. No piano for that matter. Guitar takes the piano part then I finish it. Works out fine. _________________ Gary Shepherd

Gary,
That's how the band I play the song with does the arrangement. I haven't played it for a while, but I believe we also do it in A. Same frets as you mentioned. |

thanks tom, but thats the main part the harmony will be at the 18th fret. just have not worked on it much. you can catch the video with Gene & Ricky scaggs doing it, the steel part shows him right at 18th fret. _________________ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvuH7H8BajODaL_wy3_HSJQ |
