If music is what-it’s-all-about this is one of those rare records that rewards and replenishes all that we aim to achieve from what we so easily call “music.”

TOM DOUGHTY “Have A Taste of This”
INSTRUMENTS Acoustic Weissenborn, National Tri-cone lap steel and vocal.
TYPE Blues/folk… music.

♫ For those that like lap steel blues- this is your record ♫

♫ For those budding and accomplished players- here is some real inspiration ♫

Here is his official website: http://www.tomdoughty.com/

I was lucky enough to meet Tom in person in New York City 2002 and have never forgotten it. This is all simply music to obtain and listen to. I have not gotten more value out of $13 in a long time

Music fan,
Eric Ebner

P.S. See you at the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree
Very Happy

I second Erics comments, I have known Tom for some time now and he produces work of a high standard, I also have the pleasure of sharing the stage with him later this year, do check him out, and Eric, great to hear your at the Jamboree too, sounds like we'll meet up earlier than expected !

well thank you, Mr Ebner and Kevin Brown! I have such encouragement for my playing. from all quarters, even the mongrel dog Frank, who sleeps to the dulsett tones of Slide guitar!
Bottom line is: I am enjoying making music and playing. This album is one of those occasional, major two steps forward, before the step back! Getting it out there and listened to is a bonus. I can tell that my slide playing is different to anyone else and I am still finding sounds and textures that develop the instrument further. What fun, better than the pie on the front cover! The voicing of the chord shapes are what i'm working on right now: where best to play this note or sound? An open string or somewhere like 10th fret on the 4th, or 5th fret on the 4rd?; that sort of thing. It always grabs me when I find new sounds and timbres. Slide is a wonderful style of course and like regular guitar, fairly straightforward to play at a basic, satisfying sound level; immensley challenging to play well, or in a new style. I look to so many players for inspiration, there are so many great players around now.
I know this sounds a bit cheesey, but its honest: Music is a wonderful communication tool. Looking forward to CD No 4, new sounds, tunings and more of the same that makes us know that this is my playing.
Thanks again for all the encouragemt and positive feedback.
Album reviews and air play should gather pace soon and apart from my web site, www.tomdoughty.com ., CDBaby, BluesCDstore and Red Lick; ALL my 3 CDS are now on download at ITunes, Rhapsody etc.
