I just got this SUper Pro D-10. 8 pedals and 6 knee levers.( Although it appears it had a 7th lever). My question is one: what is the set up for the pedals, and two: the E raise and lower levers are hard to use with the other two lever in front of them. Is there a trick or device to add to the levers to use them? Right now I try to use them but due to their location behind the other 2, its hard to get to them. Any suggestions?

Im guessing the lever giving you a problem is the LKL on C6 which raises both C's to C#
When you play on the E9 neck you have to fold it up out of the way.If it won't stay up tighten the allen screw that holds the knee lever in it's bracket.
As far as the overall stock setup I don't remember exactly how it went but I'm sure someone else can help.
I do remeber I didn't like the knee set up on the E's and changed them To LKL raise and LKR lower.

Your Sho-Bud may well have been modified by the owner but factory setup on a Super Pro D-10 8 & 5 around 1989 was as follows:
E9
1st pedal raise 5 & 10 B to C#
2nd pedal raise 3 & 6 G# to A
3rd pedal raise 4 E to F#, raise 5 B to C#
LKL raise 4 & 8 E to F
LKR raise 1 & 7 F# to G
RKL lower 4 & 8 E to Eb
RKR lower 2 Eb to D to C#, lower 9 D to C#
LKV (up) lower 6 G# to F#
C6
4th pedal raise 4 & 8 A to B
5th pedal raise 1 G to G#, lower 5 G to F#, raise 9 F to F#, raise 10 C to D
6th pedal raise 2 E to F, lower 6 E to Eb
7th pedal raise 3 C to D, raise 4 A to B
8th pedal raise 7 C to C#, lower 9 F to Eb, lower 10 C to A
RKL lower 3 C to B
RKR lower 4 A to Bb |

Jeff thanks for posting the set up.
Randy-to avoid any confusion-the set up posted is for 8&5.
A factory 6th knee was added at some point.
This 6th knee is an extra LKL and as I said I believe that's what is getting in your way when you play E9.
Also, as noted,the set up my have been changed 1/2 doz times or more by now...see if you can maybe find someone local to take a look at it? |

On my Super Pro, which I think was probably standard factory setup when I bought it from a store in 1984, the setup matched what Jeff posted, but with the sixth knee lever which was LKR for the C6th, and raised the 4th string A to Bb. I honestly don't remember what RKR did on the C6th neck--I changed the setup right away. It may have been 3rd string to C#.
Randy, sounds like you're saying there are 4 side-moving (not vertical) E9th levers for the left knee, or at least three--either two LKL and two LKR, or two LKL and one LKR plus a lever for the left knee on the C6th neck. Is that right?
(Oops, I just noticed a variance from Jeff's posted setup: Pedal 8 on mine was set up to lower the 9th string to E, not Eb as Jeff has it.)

Hey Brint,
Now that I look at it, that's pretty strange the 8th pedal would make the 9th string an Eb and not an E so you wouldn't have an A major chord of A - E - C#. Mine was set up as an E when I bought it but the tuning info I quoted was off a letter that was included inside the original case from "Sho-Bud Music, Division of Fred Gretsch Enterprises" which showed the Eb. Maybe it was a typo... |

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I've been off line due to my daughter having a baby. I will look at the replies when I get a chance. Daughter and Grand-daughter doing fine. Just delivered at 10:22 on 1/13/2009. Again when I get back home I'll read all the responses. Although I read one, there are 4 levers on the left leg. And two on the right. Still not sure what the other lever was. The mount is there but the lever is not.
