That's right, steel has hit the venerable pages of The Times. 27 down, seven letters "Sounded like a steel guitar."
Geez, I hope this doesn't turn into another thread about tone. I must say I use a push-pull pen and of course, black ink. It writes better. 
In the end, though, I think we will all be disappointed with the answer. I'll give you a hint: it starts with "tw" and ends with "ed".

I'm with Charlie Vaughn - it's gotta be TWANGED!  But use that in a sentence that makes sense . . . ?
question: "What'd you do last night?"
answer: "Not much really - but I did go to a great little country bar.
Got somewhat tanked on Tang and Gin.
Then I got Twanged on Loretta Lynn."
. . . no??
