I just bought a used Voodoo Lab Superfuzz and it has a weird glitch. I want to know if this is normal:

If the tone control is not maxxed, and/or the volume is above ~ 9 o'clock there is range of the resonance control around 10 - 12 o'clock where the sound gets really awful - drops out most of the guitar signal and gets very noisy/scratchy sounding.

When I got it there was a 2.2uF (tantalum?) cap across two footswitch terminals on the "engaged" side which appeared to be a mod. I removed the cap and it still does this weird glitchy thing as described.

Do they all do this, or do I have a dud?

John,
Why not ask them? They may fix it if it's screwed up.

My Superfuzz doesn't do that but it does have a dodgy footswitch. If you want to try a replacement switch try: http://www.mojomusicalsupply.com

Jonathan, Voodoo Lab will probably replace the footswitch for you if you send it to them. They have replaced the one in my Sparkle Drive twice for me, no charge both times.

Contact them first for a RMA #. Harmony Ellis is the office manager. Her email is harmony@voodoolab.com
