I hope I am welcome here Peter but I was sitting down to post the same message! I have a 1993 Polychrone tricone National with round neck. Mint condition. I would prefer a square neck as well. Bottle neck slide is o.k. but I am just a much better lap steeler. Any trades States side?

Dear Peter, I called National Guitar today and the tech guy Don plays lap steel too. He said "put a new raised nut on it"! I can do that myself or if you can find a luthier to replace the radiused nut with a straight bone nut about 1/8 higher you have yourself a fine lap style guitar. Do not go with the metal nut extender, it is just to high and compounds the tension. A new bolt on square neck: $500.00 !

Aloha,
With the new style Tricones you can switch necks..just contact the factory I'm sure you could sell your round neck on ebay to cover the costs of the square. Good luck!
