| I'm trying to learn C6 lapsteel using Dewitt Scott's "Basic C6 Nonpedal Lapsteel Method"....on page 34 of the book the heading is More Runs and Fills. In the 2nd example (#13) you play the 1st and 2nd stings at fret 11...AND fret 10 on the 4th string ALL AT ONCE. How is this possible with a bar that is straight? this has me baffled as there is no explanation on how this is acheived. Any help is appreciated. |

Hi Warren, it's called a split slant and it sounds impossible but with a little practice you can do it. A 3/4" bullet bar works the best and If your string spacing is close to 3/8" it seems to be a little easier too. Put the rounded end of the bar on strings 1 and 2 at the 11th fret then slant the rear of the bar back so it covers the 4th string at the 10th fret. Now it might not sound perfectly in tune but adding a little vibrato will cover up any imperfections and make it sound a little sweeter.
