Without any disrespect to anyone involved... that's the funniest / creepiests video I have ever seen -- the part where he puts the tube in his mouth while looking straight into camera is just... I don't know, it's awesome!!!! |

The announcer in the gold jacket is the late Merle Kilgore, who was a singer and songwriter at the time but later got rich (and infamous) as Hank Jr's manager...

Hey Mickey, howya doin'? 
I don't know who the players are, but I believe that steel was Big E's original Sho~Bud that had his name inlaid in script on the front apron, similar to Jimmy Day's first Blue Darlin' and Bobby Garrett's guitar. Pete's name on the huge plaque covers the "Buddie Emmons" inlay.
The guitar is now in the Country Music Hall of Fame. If it's still on display anymore, I don't know.
The video in question is a sync from the original recording.

Herb,I believe you are right about that guitar being"Buddie's"...it used to sit in a glass case at the top of the stairs on the second floor at Pete's Place...complete with lighter and ash tray...

I know that Buddy's Sho-bud with "Buddie" written on the front is still on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame, but I had no idea that was the same one that Pete had later; that's really interesting...
So I guess that Buddy and Pete must have gotten the same tone on all the classic records they each played that guitar on... right?  |

At present, there are 4 of Pete Drake’s Sho-Bud pedal steel guitars on display in a 2 block area of downtown Nashville. The Ernest Tubb Record Shop has a “The Professional” model under glass along with Drake’s Steel Guitar Hall of Fame plaque. The Country Music Hall of Fame (as discussed above) has the Permanent model donated by Buddy Emmons which belonged to both Emmons and Drake. Emmons had signed his name (“Buddie Emmons”) on the front with a wood burning kit. When Drake acquired the guitar, he covered Emmons’ name with a tooled leather patch inscribed w/ “Pete Drake.” The guitar was originally a D-8 which Drake had Shot convert to a D-10. The Musicians Hall of Fame has “Goldie” which is a Crossover model Pete Drake spray painted gold. We have all heard this guitar a lot and I’m sure the gold color had something to do with gold records. They also have another Sho-Bud which is described as the steel played on Dylan’s "Lay Lady Lay" from the "Nashville Skyline" LP.

Pete Drake is still with us.

| I had a session at Starday Studio in 1967, cut 4 songs, the session director was pete Drake and he also played steel on all 4 song. Last year I had that 3/4" master redone to digital CD and it sounds just as good as it did in 1967. Pete was a great person and musician |

I've seen "Goldie" in Ernest Tubb Record Shop in downtown Nashville and I think it's still there. "Goldie" is one of the prettiest Sho-Buds.
