Just a quick last-minute notice that "DickyMeister" will be working with us in Jake Hooker's group out at the Cabaret tonight (8/23). Playing "Rosie", my old '66 Emmons. What a match. There's some plans for some twin steel playing as well! Hope to see as many steelers out there as possible.

Mr. Overbey has, what I consider, the best tone from a Sho-Bud you can get. Take a listen to Justin Trevino's "Travelin Singing Man" cd with Dicky playin steel. |

Mr Smith, on that particular cd it was a 68 SHO-BUD. On his and Justin's next cd "Scene of the Crying" it was an Emmons. But I really like his tone on the BUD. He does justice on both guitars. [This message was edited by Kenny Foy on 25 August 2003 at 06:30 PM.] |

Dicky has made every axe he's been on sound awesome. The first one I heard him on was a Blanton Custom back in the early '70's and he made that one scream too. It's got to be in his hands.
Also, we were treated to a visit by Rick Price who sat in and played his tail off as well. Too much fun in one night!

Hi, Bobby,
I play steel for Mel Tillis and our drummer had your CD, "Just For The Record" , on our last trip out, but he didn't have the liner notes. Just wondering who the steel player was. Sure sounded good! The whole CD sure sounded good! We got a lot of listening enjoyment out of it.
Best of luck to you,
Tim |

If you guys dont have Dickeys' new instrumental CD, your missing some of the best playing since Jimmy Days'"Steel and Strings" album. I'm pretty sure Dickeys using a Sho Bud on some cuts and it definately is in his hands. Get his CD, you'll wear it out! Skip |

Tim, there are eight different steel players listed on Bobby's CD, including Dicky and Bobby himself! They're all mighty fine! |

Thanks Tim and Jim! I appreciate that guys.
Tim, Mel's song "One More Time" is the one we're working as a single right now so wish us luck!
Skip, you are absolutely correct about Dicky's CD, he plays great on it! I was honored to play with him on it. I believe you can order it at: www.southlandrecords.com
He did an awesome job on "Soft Rain" on my CD. Worked with him again last night and he blew me away as usual! Every gig with him is a special night.
