Only on my stereo.

I listened to "Someday Soon" by Judy Collins this evening and was once again absolutely floored by the depth of Buddy's musicianship on this track. Even after hearing this song hundreds of times (I played it four times in a row tonight), I never get tired of hearing Buddy's extraordinary sense of taste and timing, nuance and style as he weaves around Collins' vocals and trades fills with the great James Burton on guitar. Buddy sets the bar so high on this track; it's a musical vocabulary unlike anything I've ever heard before. What a touch! The vibrato and the volume pedal work together so smoothly, and Buddy's choice of notes and phrasing are simply beyond mere "mastery;" they are a new language altogether.

Thank you very much Buddy Emmons for so many enjoyable years listening to your brilliant steel guitar work. You are inspiring.

that`s the reason for asking, I just watched a You Tube video of Buddy. I believe that man has a love affair with the steel guitar..it is impossible to play like that unless you are totaly in love...

My addiction is the 10 disk Bear Family box set of Ray Price, showcasing so much of Big E's talents and creativity.

I am continually awed by the beautiful notes. Often, when playing along, I just put the bar down, listen intently, and marvel at the sounds...

Yep, all the above.
What is so amazing is when Buddy plays what he plays, he is not intentionally saying, do this if you can,or top this,if you can. it is my total belief that he is doing what he feels is right for the song.

What would have been an humbling experience, to have been able to be at some of the legendary jams between him and Day, among others where they were there trading licks. Man, to just be in the same room!!!!!

Buddy, If you by chance read these posts, Thank you, God bless, and all the best to you.

Bill

Well now that I've stepped in it, figuratively speaking, I have found a version of Don't Think Twice which features Buddy Emmons and superb slide player Mac Gayden on Steve Young's album "No Place To Fall". The interplay between Buddy and Mac is just unbelievable. Buddy does some great dive bomber slides to enter the song and exits with a burst of flawless speed picking. Mac contributes a really thick sound no tinny steel guitar imitations for him... a truly great track...Peter

Hi Everyone: I would love to hear Buddy play either "Someday Soon: or "No Place to Fall". But I can't seem to find it. I just listened to him play;"Today I Distroyed The World," and never realized how much it sounds like; "Sweet Dreams."

I hope all of you have a very "Merry Christmas", and a much better "New Year..."

You can buy a double album by Steve Young At Amazon.com with Emmons playing on all the tracks(one of the best in my opinion) The two albums called Renegade Picker and No Place To Fall are combined as a package. Amazon charges 38.00 for buying it from their store but they also indicate other vendor prices starting at $17.00 a pretty good price for some really exceptional music...Peter

Fred---

If you have iTunes, you can go to there and hear 30 seconds of "Someday Soon" for free, or download it for 99 cents. The Steve Young song doesn't seem to be there. It sounds like it would be very cool...I'll have to hunt that one down.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone, especially The Big E

A couple of you guys know Buddy personally, and we ALL know his music, of course. But he could put his guitar under the bed, and never play another note, and his contributions would have been enough. The man has been through some rough times, and there have been WAY too many of these "Hey, Buddy" type threads. When Buddy's got something to say, then I'm sure he'll say it. We all care about the "Big E." How 'bout we care enough to leave the man alone?
