What kind of steel was Porter Wagoner's steel man playing, and who was he? Apprently he's standing up using two pedals. This pic was taken from the cover of 'The Porter Wagoner Show' album.

Yes, the guy is Don Warden; whom worked with Porter for several years. I believe the guitar he was using was a fender, two floor prdals. I could be wrong on the brand of guitar. His gal singer in the photo is Norna Jean. I had the pleasure of meeting her before the Wagoner Days; when she was only 17 years old..Bernie

Whoops, Bobby, You said the magic word , ShoBud. I was quite certain that it was a Sho Bud, but couldn't make out the berand from the photo.. Bobby is a 100% accurate.. Sorry..Bernie

Thanks, everyone...the bass player is Curly Harris. He was the comedian of the band. He did some pretty funny stand-up comedy routines on that album. |

Don Warden was also Dolly Parton's manager/bus driver too. He played steel with Dolly and Porter when they would sing duets on Porter's show.

That Sho-Bud was one of, if not the first Sho-Bud. It eventually ended up in the Roy Acuff museum.
