Sweet! Deco shape's nice.
Methinks that case is a little on the large side though!
How does she sound?
Named her yet? |

The wash effect looks good, simulating a used vintage steel without going the current 'relicing' silliness route.
I don't have to ask how it sounds, DLs are excellant all around steels.
Enjoy! |

The case is my D18 case, just used it to display the lap. I play it through a Epi valve jr head with Celestion 12" Greenback and Holy Grail and Boss DD3. Sounds good, now if I can do it justice. |

Here is a picture of 12 string non-pedal that my friend and I built and I love it.

Hey Robbie, sweet looking 12 string!
Can you post a close-up of the bridge? I am about to embark on a similar project, and it's always interesting to see how people make their bridge assembly. What kind of keyhead did you use? And did you make the nut yourself? Sorry about the interrogation!!
Thanks in advance. _________________ If it’s on the ground it can’t fall down. |

Here are some pictures of my bridge and nut assemblies. They are both built by hand. We used MSA Classic keyheads and MSA Classic fretboard. The pickup was made for me by Jerry Wallace in New Mexico. Notice the space from nut to tuning keys. That space allows for better action when the bar is positioned on the first fret.

Thanks Robbie, those pics are great!
I didn't even think about leaving a space between the keyhead and the nut, but it makes sense. The bridge and nut look great too, well done. I think I will be enlisting the help of someone with some machining skills... I wouldn't know where to start to make something like that!
Thanks again mate. _________________ If it’s on the ground it can’t fall down. |

That is some seriously tight string spacing!
But a nice overall design, and I don't usually care for 2x4 styled steels. Keeping that free area between the nut and the #8 tuner are big in my book, especially when you can use the nut as a zero fret, like on this one. |

Don't really know what you mean by 2x4 steels, but this baby was molded out of a piece of solid maple. I would put this baby up against anything higher than six or eight string lap steels. When you get over six or eight strings you are entering another world for non-pedal steels. I have a six and an eight string and love to play good Hawaiian style music on them, but the 12 string puts you in a different context, although you have the six or eight strings within the 12 string setup.

An unsexified straight plank of wood/minus any significant body shape.
But your's is one of the few I've seen that has some character.
Any anything with a Wallace PU is gonna sound at least OK, even if it is moldy maple.
I'd like to see it stacked up against Delvin's DL.
I know those sound fine.
I've dreamt of 10 or 12 string steels, but that'll probably be in my next life, unless I come back as a bug. |
