| Do anyone have any suggestions on what kind of recorder I should buy to hear all my mistakes in my music room. And to see if there's improvement . Thanks for your help . Ron |

| I hear a lot of good things about the Zoom H series portable digital recorders. I have a friend that has tried to use one to record the band we had and the quality is pretty good, although not the right equipment to try to record a live band. |

| I have an H4 and it would work but it's expensive. I would think any boom box with the ability to record would be just fine. |

You can get an Zoom H2 around $100 if ya shop.

Ron, I use a laptop with Power Tracks Pro Audio/Band in Box and a small i/o box to either run a line directly from the amp or a microphone. There's a gentleman on the Forum who has an entire web site devoted to this. Works really well.

I don't know about a recording device, but I can send my wife over, she will gladly point out all the mistakes in your playing, and the rest of your life as well.  BTW if you've ever lost anything her UTD (Uterine Tracking Device)is amazing at finding lost keys, remotes, . . ..

Ron, I highly recommend the Zoom H2, if you don't already have a laptop you can easily record with.
The H2 is very easy to use, captures great audio in WAV or MP3 formats. I put on a rhythm track on my studio boombox, turn on the H2, and just play along. Hit "stop" on the H2, and listen back through earbuds, or a cord to an input on the boombox. Simple.
I've been using this to record private and classroom lessons that I teach, and with a little post production enhancement, the audio is great. It also captures live bands incredibly well, in my experience.
I do wish you could pause it, but that's for some reason not possible. You can put an index mark, but I never use that.

Has anyone tried the Tascam DP 004 4-track machine?
They're 200 bucks, and I've been looking hard at them. The only other machine I ever used was an old Yamaha mixer/4-track tape setup that I never really figured out how to use.
So, about the DP 004--anyone? |
