My D10 Professional seems to have stock pickups, but I noticed some of the C6 pickup pole pieces are not flush with the top plastic of the pickup. Is that normal? Did they do that to balance the different string output, or is it just a manufacturing anomaly? The pole pieces are all flush on the E9 pickup, but the 4th string pole piece on the C6 neck is about 1/16" above flush and the pole pieces for strings 3, 2 and 1 get progressively shorter until string 1's pole piece is almost flush. All the other pole pieces are flush with the top of the pickup.

And does anyone know if the whole top plastic rectangle that the pole pieces go through is removable/replaceable? One corner of one of my pickups is broken off down to the wrap.

Gar, the man to talk to is Jerry Wallace at True-tone pick-ups. He has rewound Shobud pickups for me and I bought new ones from him too. Reasonable, excellent work, and they sound very good.
