I'd just like to extend my appreciation to Mickey Adams for the wealth of instruction he has posted on Youtube. I realize it's been around for awhile but it's just lately, since aquiring a notebook PC which I can use while at my steel, that I've been really been using the video lessons. It's a wonderful resource and I know a lot of effort and time goes into it. Keep up the good work Mickey! |

MIckey,
I think you are a great player and teacher. Sorry to change the subject but I noticed you have both Sarno and Avalon pre amps . In your opinion how do they compare to each other? Just curious. Im really enamored with both these units. I put the Sarno in my home rack, alongside a Mesa Boogie Pre-Amp as well. Im experimenting with switching systems because the Boogies overdrive is just so creamy. Currently the Avalon is in my main rack. Ive used it on several of the larger gigs. Im still getting used to the sweep settings. The Avalon is very powerful, and I will play it tonight at Gilleys here in Dallas. I am also having great success with my Ken Fox modded NV400, and Vegas. Im fortunate to have a veritable arsenal of sound components from which to draw from.
They are all great components, making it very hard to choose which rig is BEST overall.. Ive got 2 new steels coming this month also. Del is building me a new G2 S12, and my Jackson Blackjack is getting upgraded to an S12 as well...If you get down this way give me a shout...Im at Gilleys with the Chris Rivers band every weekend now....Yeehah...Mick _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

Hey Mickey,
I discovered you on YouTube recently as well, and as a beginning steeler your videos have been a HUGE help for me. I am STILL trying to get "White Christmas" under my belt in time for my 11/29 gig! Between your videos and Jeff Newman cracking his whip on me for the ABC's of the Right Hand Alpha, I might just get this thing figured out in my lifetime...
I can obviously chime in here with everyone else and say that your willingness to share your music and knowledge does NOT go unappreciated.
Congrats on the Gilley's gig! _________________ "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Aint' Got That Swing" |

I'll add another big 'Thanks!' to the pile... Those videos have really helped me out a lot. And they're especially easy to follow as a lefty, since it's like following a mirror image.
So.... Thanks! _________________ guitar/bass/steel/amp photo sharing |

[wound up playing my 81 Mesa Boogie 1-15 combo
What model would that be Mickey? I'm using an F-50 (12) which has a great clean tone but I'd probably like a 15 |

I would also like to add that I have learned a great deal with your YouTubes. I am becoming familiar with many aspects that my lessons have not got to yet. When we do get to that lesson, I look good because I already learned the basic from the Youtube. Life is good.
On my "bucket list" is to be able to take a real live lesson from you one day.
Thank you so very much for all you do!! |

I just starting with a few of your Youtube video, Mickey, and I'm really grateful! There are no steel teachers in this part of the world, and while I've been doing pretty good on my own, your lessons are a big help. So, thanks! |

Yes, thanks a ton Mickey. I joined the SGF just today and haven’t done anything else but sit here and read. Your You Tube project has definitely kept me going. Country music is not what it used to be here in Ventura, CA. and there are few if any places to pick. Thanks to you and You Tube I keep going.

Mickey : I , too , must add my congratulations to you on all your success with your videos and your staff position with the great band at Gilley's. I'm a firm believer of the old addage " You Can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks ". Now, you have proven to me and several more of we older forumites that we were wrong; Now, at 74 , I have learned more in the year and a half as a forumite, from your teaching videos, then in my previous 40 years of playing.
Keep up the grand job you are doing for us all, Mickey..Bernie _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |

Yes, it's gonna be great fun to see you in person in Dallas, Mickey. As it happens I am attending a conference in Houston the days just before the TSGA Jamboree, so just today I have arranged an extension of my Transatlantic trip to US. I'll be attending the Dallas show.
Though I am just a beginner, still mainly a 6-stringer, I have decided to see what's it all about ... |
