Leigh,

"Lee" will never be the same after July 20th. Sure wish you could attend this year. When old friends and memories are brought to mind, I recall your past visits to the "Mass Bash". Once in the building, anyone could rely heavily on you to give a top performance.

Hey Doug,

Are you bringing your Fender T-8 again this year?

Also, Rob van Duuren says hello!

See you soon.

Speaking of Doug and the Classic Fender he split his set with last year. What a conversation piece that Steel was and the masterful way Doug went from the 4 neck no pedals to the Double neck Pedal steel. The fact he went on first and opened the show a lot was lost because the late comers didn't witness a great performance and a beautiful machine. Dougs playing the old Fender took me back home to Sacramento where a 17 year old (me)got up to sing with (Okie)Paul Westmoreland. (writer of the song Detour Fame.My first exposure to the Steel guitar. So I say get there early and don't miss a thing there will be plenty of highlights.

Thanks Joe for those kind words. Thanks to you too Chris. I'll probably bring the 4-neck Fender to the show for display, but I plan on doing my set on the Emmons this year. The idea of setting up 2 complete rigs and tuning 52 strings is not too appealing. There goes my 1/2 hour

I've been thinking about the past 20 Mass Bashes and all the great talent we've seen and heard over the years. This year's show promises to be another memorable one.

Luckily, I learned from a friend, that three of the latest posts on this thread, from two days ago, are not showing on my MSN webtv. This makes it more difficult to politely respond. Until I"m able to read the messages, I'll just say, thanks Chris B. and Country Joe C.

Years ago, while working for "The Country Music Record", a monthly tabloid, I pulled from the shelf of our Berkshire Athenaeum, a publication of "Who's Who" in country music. I was searching for information concerning current, and past activities, of well known personalities in "country Music". The publishers featured one page consisting of a map of all the states, and depicted the artists' names, within the borders of their home state. Of course, Tennessee was riddled with names. North Dakota featured only one celebrity; Liz Anderson, who left there years
ago, with her husband, and baby Lynn Anderson. I declare, that after speaking with several steel guitarists from the Northeast part of the United States, I'm convinced that I had merely scratched the surface of Who's Who. The "MASSBASH" has featured steel guitarists from the northeast, who have shed new light on where a heavy concentration of superbly talented musicians are truly located.

Here it is one week to go.I'm sure everyone is all set and rarin to go.Each and every year the shows get bigger which means a lot of work and a growing phone tab. Hats off to Doug Beaumier who has one of the busiest schedules to work around as he goes about helping Bill. Last year there was almost no show until he stepped out of the background to assure the bashes continuence. This year the support of all who attend will go to help defray the expenses occurred.Bill for a number of years has been out of his own pocket.Attend and support this great show and enjoy some of the most talented musicians, some maybe you never heard because they travel long distances, but it is assured you will never forget them and their performances. This is a great day for the steel Guitar to be the Star and the players talents to shine. Go early and get a good seat. Darn this was just supposed to be a bump.

Bob, I wish you could be on the bill at the Bash! Still remember with pleasure your set in Brussels a few years ago.

An off chance I'll stop in at the Iron Horse on my way back to Providence. Anyway, have a great gig.

Wish I was there in my old stomping grounds.
Oh my... the " 12-20 " Truckstop-chinese restaraunt-country bar(etc) just popped into my head. Now that's a vision LOL.
And a vague recolection of some sunday jamborees...shudder.

Have a great time all.
