Gaeron,
The first song has a jazz swing groove. When playing to a swing groove, play your notes in a triplet feel. Get a metronome and set it on a slow tempo. Count "One-Two Three" in between the beats, but say "one" on the beat. Practice first by only playing notes on the "one" and "three" words. This will give you the proper jazz swing feel when you speed it up.
Also, your notes are correct but too legato. You need to play some short notes too.
On the other 2 songs, I think you're pumping your volume pedal too much. Use it to sustain the notes.

Randy- Hope my picking didn't wreck your computer!
Danny- Really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment.
The volume pedal surging is an on-going quality control issue!
I don't notice it so much when i am playing but it
is really annoying on listening to the recording.
Sounds "wheezy." Way too much to just call it my "style."
Think i will turn the amp up a bit and see if that helps.
-I have just started studying the first Aebersold book and he
is very clear, just as you are regarding the swing beat. Will
have to work on internalizing it with a metronome as you
suggest. The book has really helped me in finding
my way around the c6 neck. I use a tuner to help
tell me what note i am playing and am beginning
to actually read music and hear and see some patterns.

| Maybe a little too much reverb and as previously mentioned using the volume control too much. At times it sounds like your getting overtones as a result of your settings. Try for a little mellower sound. Your doing good for the time you have been playing. |

Hey Gaeron,
Sounds great for 3.5 years! I've been playing for 5, so not much longer than you. One suggestion I would have on the "Jammin' with Jamie" tune is to maybe leave a little space from time to time - it's almost wall-to-wall steel notes, with no "breaths" in between. Think like a horn player! |

While your intonation is pretty good, you're doing way too much "pumping" on that volume pedal, sneaking in and out of the notes. (Try playing without one for awhile.) Also, those examples far bigger than they have to be (you don't want to bore the listener).
Mediafire is a terrible file hosting site. Find one with fewer ads that doesn't try to download malicious software to the user. (It tried to give me a "huntbar.exe" file with my download.) |

Sounds like everybody agrees on the volume pedal issue. Our band rehearsed tonight and i noticed i was still pumping it a lot. It must be more engrained than i realized.
-I have been experimenting with delay and reverb
trying to get a thicker tone. The settings i used in the recording are what i usually use for a gig. Probably too much for a small practice room.
Donnie- What file host site do you recommend?
This is the only one i have tried.
