Dunno for sure if this is the right place to post but has any of you ever had any problems with USPS?
I lost 2 packages in about 3 and a half weeks.

Your input is very much appreciated.

Yes, Ron, I've had a problem with the USPS. I bought a reverb from a fellow Forumite and he sent it to me via USPS. He didn't insure it but packed it very carefully. When it arrived, the reverb pan and one of the tubes was broken. It must have been dropped or roughed up in some way for it to arrive like that. They wouldn't do anything about it, lesson learned that anything sent USPS I will not only insure, but make sure that it has a tracking number and receipt of delivery required. It costs more but then you have a leg to stand on (I hope).

Once. Not too long ago, I bought about $100 worth of strings from the forum. Bob let me know he was short on stock and ship when able. So, when they didn't show up for a couple of weeks, I sent Bob an email checking the status. He said he shipped them out right away. But no package arrived. He sent me a new order. I happened to have to go to the post office about a week later, and I asked them if they had a package for me. Guess what, there it was. I live in an apartment and the box was too big for the mailbox and I guess the mail carrier didn't want to ride the elevator to my apartment and deliver it. No note was left that they attempted delivery (I am almost always at home). I notified Bob and immediately sent him another PayPal payment for the second order of strings.

I always get a tracking number when I send anything via USPS; it's only $.75, and lets me know when an order was delivered.

Interesting. I didn't know the post office would deliver something as big and heavy as a Sho~Bud. Are they now an alternative to Ups, Fedex, etc..?

yes!!!
I'm right in the middle of tracking a Sony Scan Convertor that I sold. USPS claims there's no address to deliver to. The buyer claims he sent me the correct address. I've never had problems with UPS. All this hassle to save a few bucks on the shipping.

I've had some problems with delivery time.
Sometimes if I mail out a package west of the Mississippi or west coast it may be a week longer than usual. Other than that I've never had a package lost, YET.

My monthly paycheck was 4 weeks in the mail. I asked my regular postman about it, and it was delivered the next day. I think he asked about it back at the post office. He's a guitar player.

I ship a lot of stuff and you are right about the fact that it sometimes take over 2 weeks to get from coast to coast.
Right now I have several packages on the way (pedals) to people and probably some of them will get them sooner then others.
It stays weird though.
Especially when you ship out packages and they get lost(2times so far).

I changed from UPS,FEDEX to USPS for the simple reason that I lost 4 expensive (several hundred $$) packages with both UPS and FEDEX.They never showed up.
Looks like USPS ain't any better then UPS and FEDEX huh?

Postal problem, eh? Glad you asked that question, as I'm a letter carrier of 25 years. I order things, ship things, use USPS, UPS or whatever option suits me or the other party best. No matter who you use, remember that all the delivery services handle millions of pieces each year (including regular mail, USPS handles far more). If any of them had a success rate of 99%, that would still be a lot of pieces gone astray. Know anyone that good? So, without making excuses, you have to figure that things happen, no matter how hard anyone tries. When sending things USPS, I get Delivery Confirmation, or buy insurance if something's valuable. I've sent my steel and an amp round trip (UPS) to Scotty's, and had no trouble. Most businesses I've ordered from - even overseas - tell me they have only VERY rarely had something go completely missing in the mails. Use what you find reliable and cost effective - USPS is generally cheaper for smaller, UPS for heavier - but please remember there are going to be mistakes.

I've shipped hundreds of items through the post office and never once had anything go missing. That goes for the other shipping companies as well. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Ron, I received the ShoBud pedals today that you mailed me with a November 14th postmark. That would be Friday and I got it Monday. Three days is pretty good service I think and on a weekend at that. Heck, I wish everyone provided that good of service.
