my 6th lower comes back just a little flat i can touch the b pedal and it comes on up.not real bad but a little.what would cause this ?

The lower return spring may need to be tightened up a bit.

Loosen off the tuning nut and see if it still hangs up, if it does,it's not in the rod most likely.
If it doesent hang up, the knee lever free play may be too small, is the rod pulling straight in axis of hole in changer to hole in bell crank?
Check that the rods in under carriage are not binding any or crossing eachother.
Have you oiled it recently?
Check return spring is not too loose or too tight, is it an all pull?

Larry,the rod is straight i put a little oil on the changer, it is an all pull (Carter).

Do you have a little bit of end play in the rod? [some slop]
There should be some, otherwise it cant breath!

What about the RETURN SPRING?

I'd bet a quarter that's what's causing your problem

Are you using a plain or wound string? The return characteristics are very different between the two. Also "form" the string over the roller when installing it...helps knock out half of the return problem right from the get-go.

Not enough tension on the return-spring sounds like the most logical explaination/solution!
