Leaving only Billy Cox from the glory day's of Jimi.

At least he was on tour, doing what he loved.

Saw them in Rochester, 1968. Slowly, but surely, the past disappears.

Oh my, oh my...

Mitch Mitchell was my favorite rock drummer, by far. Jimi's Elvin, indeed!

Was it Tom Waits who said "Everyone I like is either dead or not feeling too well"?

How many musicians' departures from this world have I mourned this year? I've lost track. Sad

When I was a kid I could not figure out how he came up with all those great grooves like on "Up From the Sky". Then I learned later that he was influenced by great jazz drummers and had a wonderful musical vocabulary. He was the perfect match for Hendrix. He was as integral part of the Hendrix sound.

This is really too sad, but it all comes to an end.....

At least he lived long enough to know how appreciated his musical contributions were.

Yes, a very sad day indeed. Too many of these guys are going far too young. Also my favorite rock drummer, period. Mitch was a huge part of Jimi's sound.

Bummer. When I was first starting out on drums, Mitch Mitchell was one of my biggest influences. I saw a special on tv a couple years ago that he was on, and he still sounded great.

Another legend gone... DANG!
Fine player, big sound and things changed after his arrival.
RIP Mitch

Yep. One of the best outros in rock music. I admired Mitch for his ability to stay `on track` when Jimi wandered.

Huge loss. Great player - perfect complement to Jimi's far-out style.

One of my drum heroes is gone. There will never be another player like him.
