Not sure if they even exist for psg's, but I use them on my electric bass, and a buddy uses them on an older archtop Kalamazoo guitar. With my U-12 I've noticed I get a little string zip on occasion when they bar is over the 10/11/12 strings. Not too noticeable otherwise.

I was curious whether anyone has tried using flatwound strings on a pedal steel guitar??? Or for that matter does anyone know if anyone even makes flatwound strings for psg?

I use semi- flatwound Silent Series strings. They work great. I get them from Frenchy's Pedal Steel Guitar Shop in Belen, NM. Available in nickel or stainless. I use the nickel. Jody.

I have some on a JCH.

The bar slides more smoothly than with normal Emmons strings, and the tone is less bright and less sparkle.

I miss the bright but like the slick feel.

Tried 'em once, a long time ago. They came off faster than they went on. Yuck.

I tried them, but they were too dead sounding, no "twang" at all. The semi-flats (formerly called "ground-wounds") were a little better, but stuill nowhere near as lively as regular round-wound.
